Romka #8

Romka is a magazine where professional and amateur photographers submit their favourite photographs and the stories behind them. I loved last year's issue so I was right chuffed to be selected for this one.

Issue #8 is available to buy direct from Romka, but if you're already in the UK it's also available from the good people at Village in Leeds.

Talking to the Taxman About Poetry

After two years of talk and false starts, I'm finally getting this project off the ground. Christmas and birthdays are on the horizon and thankfully that's means a new bit of kit I've had my eye on for a few months. Recently had a few conservations with people, especially now that I'm back in Hull, about how I've fallen out of love with popping down to coffee shops with a guitar and being involved in the music scene.

That's not going to change, but I've been wanting to start making field recordings for ages and now I've got a few projects in the pipeline that would work well with them. It's very different to singing Mountain Goats covers down the road to tens of people over Friday night coffees, but it's filling in a sound-making hole that's been bothering me more and more over the past three years.

I made some preliminary test photos today as well. I know how it should sound but not how it should look yet. You can watch this space over on the website which has also got a little blurb explaining what it's all about.

'Sounds of Twenty Thirteen' Mix

Some of my favourite sounds from the last twelve months. I made this mix at stupid o'clock in the morning and it's amazing. I might feel differently about it after some sleep but I hope not.

What Costume Shall a Poor Girl Wear? (Part 2)

I've taken so many of my favourite pictures these past few years at ATP - like here, here and here - and End of an Era Part 2 was definitely no exception. But, of course, it was the last one so I guess I'm never gonna take any cool photos ever again ... Maybe.
